buddy

well, we still have buddy the dog.
we have had him for six nights now.
1 night outside, 5 nights inside.

we have done just about everything one can do in order to find it's original owner.
so now we are on the hunt for the "perfect home" for our buddy.

we have called over thirty "no kill" animal shelters. all full.
we have posted him on craigslist, all lost dog websites & spca.org.
if you drive our neighborhood, you will see a flyer on every corner & all nearby dogparks.
buddy has even made it on a local animal column on the web from some kind person who cared.
sunday we went to petsmart with a "free dog" sign- sorta like a homeless person would stand.
hung out there for over two hours. then went to the greenville location.
we had a lot of interest but of course all people going to petsmart already have 5 animals..at least it seemed that way.
we did give our information out to quite a bit of people who said they would pass it around.
we are beginning to get a lot of leads, responses, interests.
it seems our emails are spreading & spreading.
apparently it was sent out to over 400 lawyers on some mass email from someone who knows the girl who is cousins with the lady from blake's best friend's neighbor.
i have been in touch with several who seem interested.
i feel like i am adopting out my child- i find myself becoming picky with who can take him now.
asking questions like..
do you have a yard, any kids, married, travel, work, other pets?
aye ya yay.
we are becoming attached. it's safe to say.

two days ago, we took him to get groomed & have a full exam.
he got all his shots, rabies & heart worm tested.
completely healthy!
good boy buddy.
they said he was perfect. a very good patient.
i wouldn't have expected anything less.

some additional info about buddy:

he is 65 lbs.
vet thinks he is between 1-2 years.
he is a choc lab & doberman mix.
he is not neutered but we are considering getting him neutered if no one takes him soon.
i would not consider him a hyper dog.
does well riding in the back of our tahoe.
enjoys his mint & steak chew ropes.
very teachable. learning to sit & rollover already.
he has yet to pee or poop inside our apt.
seems to be a very loyal dog.
he is friendly with other dogs.
he seems to love being both inside & out.
he never moves off his blanket by our bed the entire night.
LOVES attention and being played with.

i can't described to you how much we have grown to love this dog.
we are more and more attached each day that passes.
blake & i both have admitted to tearing up each time it gets close to someone taking him.
he is going to make some family very happy soon. i know it.
we have already agreed that if we had a yard, we would absolutely keep him..even though we planned on ONLY having small dogs someday.

...that's the impact he can have on you.

i also want to thank all the people who have been a help in this process.
there are so many kind people out there.
they don't even know us & have gone out of their way to help out sweet buddy.
it is truly appreciated from the bottom of my heart.
